Adults with Disabilities Health Check
Annual Health Check for Individuals on the Learning Disability Register
Individuals with learning disabilities often experience poorer physical and mental health compared to the general population, though this does not have to be the case.
It is essential for everyone over the age of 14 who is registered on their doctor’s learning disability register to have an annual health check.
An annual health check provides the opportunity to discuss your health with a doctor or nurse, allowing potential issues to be identified early and addressed promptly. You do not need to be unwell to benefit from this check—many people attend their annual health check when they are feeling well.
If you have concerns about seeing a doctor or if there is anything that could make your appointment more comfortable, please inform your doctor or nurse. They are able to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate your needs and ensure the visit is as supportive as possible.
